Best of Wedding Photography

I’m very excited to announce that I was recently selected to be a member a new international wedding photography organization, the Best of Wedding Photography. This organization was founded by some of the most talented, well-respected photographers in the wedding industry, many of whom I’ve admired for a long time, including Anna Kuperberg, Ben Chrisman and many more. The Best of Wedding Photography “employs a unique system of peer-review to ensure that membership standards remain uncommonly high. We look for photographers who are leaders in the field – both in terms of the quality and style of imagery they produce and their level of success and recognition by brides, fellow photographers, and others in the wedding industry.”

It’s truly an honor to be listed among such amazing group photographers who are not only skilled and professional, but who care deeply about their clients and their craft. If you have a moment, please check out the BOWP site for more information.

Kicking Off 2010!

Hello and Happy New Year! I know this post is a little belated, but we’ve had a wonderfully busy start to 2010! In the last eleven days, we’ve photographed Erin and Eric’s beautiful wedding at The Treasury (photos to come later this week), launched a new website, participated in our first bridal show, the Art of Weddings, and I finished up the busy week with a portrait session. Whew! We certainly hit the ground running in 2010. I love it!

I’m excited to introduce to you our brand new website for 2010! As promised, there are larger images, more galleries, and it’s even visible on your preferred mobile device. The best part is that it’s completely integrated with the blog, so you can navigate from the website to the blog fluidly. The blog format is a little different, and I’m hoping it’s more user-friendly. I’m introducing a gallery feature to the blog that will allow you to click through the images rather than having them drop down under the post. We’re still tweeking the site and adjusting the content, so if you have any questions or comments about the new site or blog, we welcome your feedback! Many many thanks to my amazing husband, Lincoln, for all of his hard work on the site. I’m lucky lady to be married to such a talented photographer and web designer.

As a way to familiarize you with the new gallery feature on the blog, I thought I’d post a few images from the Art of Weddings bridal show that we participated in on January 7th. The Art of Weddings 2010 was held at the Gerding Theater at the Armory and featured some of the very best local wedding vendors. It was such a fun event and we were thrilled to be a part of it! Many thanks to Alexis Achten of Jasmine Photography. Not only is she a talented photographer, she’s also the creator of the Art of Weddings and did an amazing job putting on a great show.

Vegas, Baby! 2009 WPPI Convention and Trade Show

Each year, Wedding & Portrait Photographers International, an organization geared toward the continuing education of photo professionals, organizes a trade show in Las Vegas, Nevada. Thousands of photographers and photo vendors descend upon Sin City to network, attend classes, and visit the WPPI trade show which is comprised of over 280 vendors. In the spirit of continuing our photography education, Lincoln and I are attending the trade show as well as a few platform classes taught by leading photographers in the wedding and portrait industry. We’re hoping to find ways to improve not only our skills as photographers but also enhance and improve our business for our clients. So far, we’ve had a blast, learned a lot, and enjoyed meeting other folks in the industry. We’ll be sure to keep you posted on any new enhancements, services and/or products that we pick up from the convention and trade show.

In other news: Please stay tuned for highlights from Pace and John’s super fantastic Valentine’s Day wedding! I should have several of my favorite images from their day blogged in the next day or so. Meanwhile, please enjoy this gratuitous (and dorky) photo of us from the WPPI 2009 Trade Show:)

Here’s wishing all of you a wonderful, happy, and healthy 2009! Lincoln and I are still playing catch up from the holidays but I did want to wish everyone a happy new year and also give you a heads up about upcoming posts. Later this week I’ll be sharing images from my first shoot of the year, an engagement portrait session with Marian and Matt. Also, January marks the beginning of my Winter Album sale so I’ll be posting more information about that next week. We’ve Been Blogged

For everyone who has been asking to see photos from Lincoln and my wedding, the time has come. Abby Larson, creator and writer of the well-loved wedding blog Style Me Pretty, recently featured Nicole and Grant’s amazing wedding that Lincoln and I had the opportunity to photograph in September. When Abby discovered that Lincoln and I were recently married, she asked me if she could also feature our wedding. We happily said yes! Please click HERE or on the photo below to see our feature.

Then and Now

Dear Family, Friends, Clients, and Blog Fans,

I wanted to let all of you know that my business, my blog, and I will be taking a little break starting October 25th through November 15th. As some of you already know, on November 1st I will marry my best friend, Lincoln Barbour. Lincoln and I are taking this time off to hang out with our family and friends, celebrate our marriage, and enjoy our honeymoon. I cannot begin to describe how excited I am to take this next step in our lives together!

I will be checking my email and phone periodically from October 25th-November 15th. However, if you have a pressing issue that requires immediate attention, please call 503.223.0988.

Thanks to everyone for your support, well wishes and congratulations!

Attention Friends, Clients and Inquiring Minds!

UPDATE 04/10/08: My contact form is now working! Please feel free to contact me from the form or via my email address or telephone number which are listed below. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

I have good news and I have bad news…

Bad news first:

I woke up this morning (04/09/08) to discover that the the ‘Contact Form’ on my www.laurenbphoto.com contact page has NOT been working since Friday, April 4th 2008. If you have tried to email me via my contact form in the last 6 days, I have not received your email. Please try reaching me via my email address Lauren at Laurenbphoto.com or call me at 503.467.9593. This glitch should be fixed in the next day or two and, hopefully, my contact form will be up and running again. I apologize for any inconvenience.

Now for the good news:

One of the reasons for this contact form conundrum is that I’m in the process of making a bunch of small web improvements for my clients, including moving to a new Internet Service Provider with more server space. This means that your web galleries will be available for viewing for one whole year! Other improvements include a new web gallery system with larger images, the ability to crop your photos, a cleaner design, and more. Stay tuned – the new web gallery will be available by May 1st 2008. For a demo of how the new gallery will work, check out the gallery designer’s site: www.redcart.com

Happy Spring!

We’re Engaged!

As of December 22nd 2007, Lincoln and I are engaged to be married. On a weekend snowboarding trip to Mt. Hood, Lincoln popped the question and I said yes (of course)!

A professional photographer in his own right, Lincoln is my second shooter for weddings and the reason I have fulfilled my dreams of becoming a photographer. We met in the summer of 2003 when he hired me to be his photo assistant. Several months later, we met again through a mutual friend. Soon after that, we went on our first date. The rest is history:)

We’re both very excited about this next big step in our lives together! Now the big question is : Who will photograph our wedding?

New Year, New Site, New Blog!

Welcome to my new wedding and portraits blog! In addition to launching a new website with fresh images, I’ve also decided to redesign my blog so that I can keep you more up-to-date on what’s going on in the world of Lauren Brooks Photography. While allowing me to share news and happenings, this new blog design also allows me to post more photos from recent portrait sessions and weddings so that you can share these images with your friends and family.

If you clicked on the blog link expecting to be directed to my photo-a-day blog, Breathe Deeply, fear not! Breathe Deeply still exists and will remain a place for me to post personal photo work. I invite you to check out www.breathe-deeply.com to see what I like to shoot in my free-time.

I also want to say thank you to Lincoln Barbour, my best friend, studio mate, and work partner. In addition to contributing several of the wedding photos that are in our new portfolio, he is responsible for designing and programming the new site as well as this blog. I am grateful beyond words! If you have a chance, please take a look at the new website: www.laurenbphoto.com.

Thank you for your visit. I welcome any comments or feedback you may have.

Happy Holidays!

Lauren
