Danielle and Kevin Featured in Spring 2010 Issue of Portland Bride & Groom!
I’m thrilled to announce that Danielle and Kevin’s wedding has been featured in Portland Monthly’s Bride & Groom Spring 2010 Issue! If you follow my blog regularly, you may remember Danielle and Kevin’s absolutely breath-taking, August 9th 2009 wedding at Kruger’s Farm. Everything about their wedding was so lovely: the couple, the location, the food, the DIY details. I just love thinking about their wedding day because it pretty much encompassed everything that I enjoy about my job, Portland in the summertime, and the incredible people that we’ve met since moving here in 2005. Thanks again, Danielle and Kevin, for giving us the opportunity to photograph your wedding day.

Amber and Randy’s Wedding Featured on Portland Style Unveiled
If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you probably remember seeing images from Amber and Randy’s beautiful late-summer wedding. Amber and Randy were married on August 30th 2008 at the View Point Inn in Corbett, Oregon. The couple’s impeccable style resulted in one of the most classically elegant weddings that we’ve had the opportunity to photograph.
Just a few weeks ago, I received an email from Heather Sharpe, the editor of Portland Style Unveiled, one of the newest (and most stylish) local wedding planning and resource websites in Portland. She had seen Amber and Randy’s wedding on my blog and loved it so much that she wanted to feature it in the ‘Real Weddings’ section of the Portland Style Unveiled website. Of course, I was thrilled at the opportunity to have Amber and Randy’s photos showcased on the site, and the newlyweds were excited to hear that their wedding was going to be featured!
If you’re still planning your wedding or if you simply love weddings and wedding style, please be sure to check out Portland Style Unveiled. It’s a beautifully designed, easy-to-navigate wedding resource site that’s full of inspiring ideas and advice for your big day. Happy planning!

Before we get too busy, I wanted to share an exciting tidbit with you. Nicole and Grant’s Wedding Featured on Style Me Pretty
If you follow my blog regularly, you may remember seeing the post about Nicole and Grant’s lovely autumn wedding held in Bend, Oregon on September 20th 2008. You know the one: adorable couple, fantastic wedding location, lovely hand-made wedding details, and some of the best dance party photos of the year. Well, yesterday, their amazing wedding was featured on Style Me Pretty!
Style Me Pretty is a blog that focuses on wedding-related style, highlighting every aspect of the wedding from the invitations to the dress. I discovered Style Me Pretty this spring as I was planning my own wedding. It is such a great source of information and inspiration. Just a couple months after I became a regular visitor to the site, I received an email asking if I was interested in being listed in their ‘Little Black Black Book‘ of vendors – a hand-picked guide of wedding service providers. Of course I was thrilled to be asked and have enjoyed being part of the Style Me Pretty community. I still check the blog daily to stay connected to the industry and see what other brides and wedding vendors are creating.
If you have a moment, please check out Nicole and Grant’s feature. It was really wonderful to read how much thought and effort went into all of their planning. Nicole’s words are a good bit of insight for anyone who is in the planning stages of their wedding or for anyone who just plain loves weddings (like myself). 2008 WPJA Q3 Contest Award Winner!
I’m very excited to announce that one of my images has be awarded 2nd place in the Wedding Photojournalist Association 3rd quarter contest! The WPJA is a membership-based international organization of photographers who specialize in documenting weddings in an unobtrusive style. It’s an honor to be a part of the organization and to have been recognized by and among a group of very talented photographers.
Below is my winning image and the judge’s comment. Click here if you’re interested in seeing all of the winning images from the 2008 WPJA Q3 contest.

Second Place | Category: Reception
Judges Comments: An odd, unexpected, apparent grab shot. Though the composition is not great, it is fascinating to look at what everyone is doing, including many oblivious to the kid being thrown in the air. This is an image that Cartier-Bresson would get from a wedding (except in black & white and of course, perfect compositon).
WPJA Q4 Contest Winner and Top 20 Photographer of the Year
I’m happy to announce that two of my images have placed in the latest Wedding Photojournalist Association 4th Quarter photo contest!
I’ve also been listed 20th out of the Top 100 Photographers of The Year for the WPJA . This is quite an achievement considering the level of talented photographers who belong to this international organization. It’s very inspiring and motivating!

Wedding: Carrie & James Location: David Hill Winery

Judges Comments: The light, texture and framing all work well in this picture. It’s beautiful.
This was a beautiful picture. I loved the detail of the embroidery alongside the veil and flowers. A fresh view of the commonplace.

Wedding: Tiffani & Jake Location: Abigail’s Garden
Fifth Place | Category: Kids (Being Kids)
Judges Comments: This picture is very clean. The different layers work well together and the composition is very accurate.

Wedding: Laurie & Allen Location: Willamette Star
Fifth Place | Category: Food & Drinks
Judges Comments: Wonderful slice of Americana and in a expression based moment that speaks via a journalist and not the typical “look at the food” situation.
Laurie and Allen Featured in Latest Issue of ‘Portland Monthly’s Bride & Groom’
For all of you brides and grooms out there looking for information and inspiration for your big day, I recommend checking out Portland Monthly’s Bride & Groom, Portland’s own bridal style magazine. Not only is Portland Bride & Groom a good resource when searching for local wedding vendors, but their ‘Real Weddings’ section offers a view into several real marriage celebrations from around the Pacific Northwest.
If you pick up the Winter/Spring 2008 Issue of Portland Bride & Groom be sure to turn to page 54. There you can see images from Laurie and Allen’s wedding on the Willamette Star.
